Liberal Democrat Councillor Carolyn Lambert has written to the Green Leader of Lewes District Council, Cllr Zoe Nicholson, asking the District Council to take action on the number of empty commercial properties in Seaford town centre, including Talland Parade. Cllr Lambert explains: “Seaford is suffering badly from the eyesore and waste caused by building sites with planning permission for housing but where no work has been carried out.

These “stalled sites”, foremost of which is Talland Parade, have been in that position for years. There are more in Seaford and nearly 2000 across Lewes District as a whole.

I am therefore asking the District Council to actively engage with the owners of Talland Parade in Seaford to urgently complete the building work on this site which remains an eyesore in the middle of the town and the cause of considerable concern.

In addition, I am asking Lewes District Council to charge full business rates on any commercial property that is vacant for more than six months.”
