Traffic on Kingston Road travels too fast, and many drivers do not slow sufficiently by the time they meet the 20mph zone on Southover High Street. This has led to three crashes in recent months. The Swan roundabout itself is blind from two directions, leading to risk to pedestrains crossing and cyclists on the road.
Its high time action was taken to make this stretch of road safer.

The proposed changes to Kingston Road, Cranedown and Swan Roundabout

Slow Down Kingston Road

Following a spate of accidents at the corner near to the Swan Public House, we, the undersigned are asking for change from Kingston Road to the Swan roundabout. We are asking East Sussex County Council to reduce the speed limit on Kingston Road to 30mph, to extend the Southover High Street 20mph Zone to the Cranedown on Kingston Road, to make Cranedown itself 20mph, and install a pedestrian crossing at the Swan Pub.
